The Honeywood Story

Hello and welcome to my candle shop! I'm Amy, an American living in Sweden; a wife, a mama, owner of Honeywood.
Honeywood Candle Co. came about in October 2023, after a day of shopping for some new “holiday” scents for our home (I really just desperately wanted to find a Pumpkin Spice candle). I put each candle under my 4 year old daughter's nose and to each one she would say, “I don’t like this candle.” Unfortunately, I agreed, so we walked out of the store empty-handed.
That very day I had the idea that if I can’t find a candle I like from the store then maybe I should make my own. When I typed into my computer "HOW to make a candle", I learned about the possibility of starting a candle business!
From there, the idea took hold of my head and heart. Ever since working at an amazing spa in my 30s, it has been a dream of mine to own my own spa-like thing.
It's amazing how the smell and ambience of a candle can so powerfully invoke this spa-like experience. For me, many of my ordinary or less than great days have been made a bit more special by simply lighting a candle when I got home.
So from October to May I worked on testing and perfecting my candles. I wanted to create something beautiful, non-toxic, and in loads of scent choices. In May 2024, I started selling candles for the first time at our local Farmers Market and in August 2026 I didn't walk into the classroom for the first time in 22 years in order to focus solely on this business.
I still have a lot to work on, learn, and do, but I have a candle business!
So now introducing, Honeywood. A word that not only fits perfectly with the timeless art of the chandler, but also, represents my life in nature-loving Sweden with my handsome Kenyan hubs, who believes honey is a key ingredient in almost everything.
It is my desire, that at Honeywood Candle Company, you will not only find candles you love, but also inspiration. Whether you’re enjoying a Honeywood candle or following my business journey, come along as we love our spaces more and get inspired!
Love,
Amy
PS: So far my daughter likes most of my candles. :) Let me know which one is your favorite!
