The Honeywood Story

Hello and welcome to my candle shop!  I'm Amy, an American living in Sweden; a wife, a mama, a teacher, and now the owner of Honeywood Candle Company.

Honeywood Candle Co. came about after a day of shopping for some new “holiday” scents for our home.  I put each candle under my 4 year old daughter's nose and to each one she would say, “I don’t like this candle.”  Unfortunately, I agreed, so we walked out of the store empty-handed.

The next day I had the idea that if I can’t find a candle I like from the store then maybe I should make my own.  When I started researching HOW to make a candle, I learned about the possibility of starting a candle business.

From there, the idea took hold of my head and heart.  I'm a teacher, but I also have education and experience in the spa industry.  Since working in a spa in the US, it has been a dream of mine to own a boutique-like store that would allow me to offer unique and beneficial products for taking the spa experience home.

It's amazing how the smell and ambience of a candle can so powerfully invoke this spa-like experience.  For me, many of my ordinary or less than great days have been made a bit more special by simply lighting a candle when I got home.

So now introducing, Honeywood.  A word that not only fits perfectly with the timeless art of the chandler, but also, represents my life in nature-loving Sweden with my handsome Kenyan hubs, who believes honey is a key ingredient in almost everything.

It is my desire, that at Honeywood Candle Company, you will always find both high quality candles, lots of scent choices, and community.  This is why I choose to share the cream and the chaos of my business journey and why I choose to include inspirational messages on each of my candle scents.

Come along as we elevate our self-care, make our spaces more decadent, and feel inspired!

It's always a beautiful day to light a candle and I feel so honoured that you would choose to light one of mine.

Love,

Amy

PS:  So far my daughter likes most of my candles. :)
