Women's Day Words To My Daughters

Women's Day Words To My Daughters

I started dating my hubs at 38.  He had two daughters and it was in this time of big life change for me that l wrote down some words of wisdom for them on Women's Day.  I don't know exactly what prompted me to do it, I was likely just trying to bond with them, but also doing a bit of reflecting who I was becoming and what I had learned about life so far.

Women's Day also happens to be my birthday.  So it is with my 47th birthday today (and almost 6 years after giving birth) that I pulled this list out again.  I'm reading through these words and reflecting on how I thought about life then versus now.  I think I scribbled the bulk of this list down in about 5 minutes and today I've added and edited a bit.  The original list is 38 long, but I've decided to pare it down to a Top 20 (as 10 was just too few).  I hope this list will both inspire you and springboard some great conversations.

Happy International Women's Day to you.  Enjoy!

Women's Day Words to My Daughters

Get to know yourself- what things you like and don't like.

Don't be like everyone else, be YOU.

Friends will come and go from your life.  Most friends are there for a reason or season, only a few will be there for a lifetime.

Know that you are worthy no matter what you see or feel in a moment.  Life is ebb and flow, good days and bad.

Going to therapy is a completely viable option.

Try things alone that you would normally only do with friends.

Laugh a lot.

Spend time in nature.

Travel just to travel.

The most important decision you will ever make besides who to marry (if you choose to get married) is to have a relationship with Jesus.

Surround yourself with people who love you well, want your best, and cheer you on.

Believe people when they show you who they are.  Actions speak louder than words.

Be kind but remember that being kind doesn't mean letting others treat you poorly.

Focus on feeling strong and being healthy and not on looking a certain way.

Drink water.

Get doctor checkups.

Never stop learning.

Eat the cake!

When you've had a bad day, go home, put on music, and just dance!
